Exorcism: Old Word or Increasing Problem?
One of the forbidden words, the one that we never talk about is, “Exorcism.” Why is exorcism never discussed at cocktail parties, at power lunches or at the kitchen table? Is there a lack of interest in exorcism these days? Some two thousand years ago the Disciples were sent out to cast out evil spirits. They did a good job, but they did not get them all. They are still around, causing their mischief, adding to the chaos that surrounds us.
Who are you carrying around with you? Who is stuck on you? It could be Uncle Joe, an army buddy, grandma or grandpa, your best friend, or maybe all of them. For today, in addition to evil spirits lurking around, trying to get control of us, we have another menace, Discarnate Entities (DEs) or earthbound spirits. These are people who upon dying do not go into the Light and ascend, as depicted in the movie, “Ghost.” In the movie, our hero, Sam, saw the Light, but stayed on earth to protect his lady and solve the mystery of his murder. As a DE, he could slip into Ota Mae’s body and slip out of her body without harming her, thus refusing her control of her physical beingness. While most DEs just become excess baggage, clinging to a person’s aura, others challenge the host’s personality. They want control. They want to live again, if only vicariously. In the movie, Ghost, it was depicted that only the physical body dies. The ethereal body, containing the soul/spirit leaves the physical and is ready to ascend into the light. This has been noted in thousands of near death experiences. Often people do not know that they are dead, as in such cases of traffic accidents and death by drugs or alcohol. Must often, these DEs do not go into the Light, but stay earthbound. They become confused and disoriented and will be looking for a drink or drugs. Their need for drugs or alcohol lingers and they go looking for an unsuspecting person to attach to, and, get their fix. The DEs that die from major illnesses, who attach to a persons aura can bring their illness to the unsuspecting person or child.
Children pick up DEs when their natural, spiritual protection is temporarily lost through unconscious minor or major accidents, as in play or sports injury such as a fall or hit on the head. This can happen under anesthesia during surgery, during a fit of temper tantrum/rage or exhaustion. These DEs may attach to a child and cause considerable problems not only for the child, but for the parents.
Behavior patterns that may indicate DE attachment are: aggressive behavior, defiance, hyperactivity, personality changes, changes in health and stamina. This is also true of adults. DEs have a negative influence when they drain energy, create cravings and conflict by the way they want to live thinking that this host’s body is theirs. DEs struggle with the host’s lifestyle and attempt to take possession of the personality.
Historically, the treatment of spirit possession has been primarily in the hands of the shaman, medicine man, or clergy. Recently metaphysical practitioners, that do not require ritualistic exorcism, have developed techniques. Today entity removal can be done remotely with the use of a photograph or a signature, of the client to be depossessed. This works and protects the practitioner as s/he has no direct contact with a DE.
